A Message from the Principal

It is hard to believe that it is already October and we are well into our first quarter of the new school year!  We are off to a fantastic start and I wanted to thank everyone for their continued support!

This year is going to bring about many new and exciting experiences for us all.  Our teachers are implementing a curriculum that is focused on creating a learning environment and where "All" truly means "All".  Every student has the opportunity for re-teaching or extension of skills during any given day.  This individualized learning environment is offering students the opportunity to be appropriately challenged in each lesson, allowing for maximum growth.  Our incredible teachers are working tirelessly to deliver a cohesive and adaptive learning environment for all their students.  In alignment with our Superintendent's Vision, we are focused on improving literacy and climate within our schoolhouse.

This year we are utilizing Class Dojo as our school-wide behavior system.  It is a great way to receive notices on your child's behavior, communicate with the teacher, and receiving updates on events that are happening at school.  If you have not already signed up, please contact your child's teacher.  I will be sharing important information through Class Dojo all year!

I am thrilled to announce that Essex Elementary is now a Title 1 Targeted Assistance School.  We will be receiving federal money to support selected students this year.  More information will be shared in the future as we learn about this new program.

As parents, you can support your children by joining and becoming an active member of our school PTA.  Also, work closely with your child(ren)'s teacher through phone calls, conferences, and Class Dojo to ensure your child is putting their best foot forward while at school.  Also, take some time to celebrate any school related successes!

Each day, I see students working hard and hear about great things kids are doing in their classes.  Mr. Quinn and I have made a lot of calls home for students that are demonstrating the Virtue of Kindness during the month of September.  We hope to make many more in October for students demonstrating the Virtue of Respect.

Thank you for your support!
Ms. Wagner
